Open Source and Data Protection

We rely on open source because we value transparent and sustainable code. This way, we don't reinvent the wheel and can give improvements back to the community.

For more specific requirements, we use existing open source products as a basis for our customizations whenever possible.

As far as circumstances permit, we operate systems on our own servers, thus minimizing data transfer to third parties. In the interest of data protection, we collect as little data as possible and protect the privacy of our users and partners.

Collaboration

Our principles at a glance:

Transparency through Open Source

Open code builds trust. We prefer solutions that are inspectable, traceable, and collaboratively developed.

Sustainable & Collaborative

We don't reinvent the wheel. Existing open source products form the basis — we give our improvements back to the community.

Privacy by Design

We operate systems on our own servers, minimize data transfer to third parties, and collect only the data that is truly necessary.

What this means in concrete terms:

Own server infrastructure

Wherever possible, systems run on our own servers — no unnecessary data transfer to third-party cloud providers.

Data minimization

We only collect data that is truly required for the operation of the systems — no more, no less.

Privacy protection

The privacy of our users and partners is of high importance to us — in technology and in our interactions.

Open code – back to the community

Where possible, we give improvements and extensions created on an open source basis back to the community.
